Burrel is now compliant with the European Data Act

Introducing the Burrel Public API — your data, your choice

We’re happy to share that Burrel now complies with the European Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854). This matters because your data belongs to you — and now it’s easier than ever to use it the way you want.

What’s new?
We’ve launched the Burrel Public API, a safe and standard way for you (the owner of a Burrel camera) to access the same data your camera sends to our servers.

What you can do

  • Access your camera data directly. Get the information your camera reports, in its original form.
  • Use it with or without the Burrel app. The API is available even if you don’t use our app.
  • Share access if you choose. You can delegate access to a trusted third party (for example, a partner service or research project).

A quick note about images
Everything you receive is the raw data from your camera, except for a small thumbnail preview image. We create that preview on our backend to help you browse media without downloading full files.

Fair and transparent access

  • Free for Burrel camera owners.
  • Third-party access requires your permission and a separate written agreement with Natlink. The agreement is available to any EU legal entity.
  • Third-party data access involves a fee (pricing to be announced).

Why we’re doing this
Because we care about our users. We want you to have real ownership, control, and choice over your data — in a way that’s private, secure, and simple.
