Quick Start Guide for installing SMS PRO, N24 and E24 using the Burrel App

Before Getting Started:

  • Make sure you have a working SIM card and a memory card ready for your camera.
  • Download the "Burrel" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store onto your phone or tablet in advance. You can find more detailed information here.
  • Open the app and register using your email address, Apple, or Google account.

1. Installing Camera Components

  • Attach the antenna to the antenna connector on top of the camera. Tighten it securely, but not too much. Do not remove the black gasket ring from the antenna port.
  • Open the front cover of the camera.
  • Ensure the camera’s power switch is in the OFF position.
  • Load the compartment with 12 AA batteries or connect a 6V external power source using the appropriate cable.

2. Installing the SIM Card

  • The camera comes pre-installed with our recommended Device SIM card. If you want to use it, activate the card here.
  • If using another SIM card, make sure the PIN code request is disabled. This can be done by inserting the SIM card into another device (e.g., a phone) and adjusting the settings.
  • Insert the Mini SIM into the camera in the correct orientation. You can find more information about the correct placement and orientation here.

3. Installing the Memory Card

  • Use a SD/SDHC card (max. 32 GB, speed class 6, 10, or UHS-1). We do not recommend using a Micro SD card with an adapter, as it may cause compatibility issues. You can find more details about memory cards here.
  • We always recommend using a memory card with N24 and E24 camera models, even though these cameras can send images without one. The memory card enables features such as video recording and manual test picture.
  • You can find more information about the correct placement and installation of the memory card here.

4. Activating the Camera

  • Move the power switch to the SETUP position. The camera will enter preview mode and search for a network.
  • Once a network is found, the screen will display the operator name, network, and signal strength.
  • If the camera does not connect to the network, ensure that the SIM card’s PIN code request is disabled (this is the default for Device SIM cards). If needed, try a different SIM card.

5. Adding the Camera to the App

  • In the Burrel app, tap the "Add Camera" button in the Cameras submenu.
  • Add the camera using the Burrel ID or the QR code found on the quick start guide cover or the camera label. Then, tap "Next."
  • The camera’s location will appear on the screen if the app detects the camera. Tap "Next."
  • Name your camera and save it in the app by tapping "Save."
  • Once the camera has been successfully added to the app, you can return to the Cameras submenu by tapping the "X" in the top left corner.

6. Checking Camera Settings

  • Use the arrow buttons and the Menu and OK buttons to navigate the camera settings. For the E24 model, the Menu button is the topmost of the three buttons on the left side.
  • If needed, change the language: Press Menu -> Navigate with arrow buttons to the System submenu (gear icon) -> Navigate to "Language" and adjust it using the arrow buttons -> Press OK. To exit the menu, press the Menu button.
  • Ensure the reception method is set to "Burrel+": (Menu ->) Sending submenu -> SendTo -> Select Burrel+ -> Press OK and save the change to the server ("UpLoads Settings").
  • Check the trigger interval: Menu -> Trigger submenu (clock icon) -> Trigger Interval -> Select at least 1 minute -> Press OK. Then press Menu -> Go to the Sending submenu -> Select "UpLoad Settings."
  • In the settings, choose the appropriate mode under the Camera submenu: "Photo," "Video," or "Photo&Video" (in this case, the camera sends only the photo but saves the video to the memory card).
  • If needed, you can find an example and information about the most common camera settings here.

Note! Always save settings to the server after making changes: (Menu ->) Sending submenu-> "UpLoad Settings." Otherwise, the camera settings will change.

7. Taking a Test Photo

  • Move the power switch to the SETUP position and wait for the camera to connect to the network.
  • Press the OK button to take a picture.
  • Press the OK button again to send it.
  • Wait about 30 seconds to a minute. The image should appear in the Burrel app.
  • You can find more information about testing the sending function here.

Note! The test photo will only work if the camera has a recommended memory card and the mode is set to "Photo" or "Photo&Video."

8. The Camera is Ready for Use

  • Choose a suitable location for the camera. You can find information about placement here.
  • Once the camera is in place, open the front cover and move the power switch to the SETUP position.
  • Wait for the camera to find a network.
  • Move the power switch to the ON position.
  • Close the front cover – the camera is now operational.

Congratulations! Your Burrel trail camera is now set up and connected to the Burrel app. The camera is ready to take and send photos and videos.
