How to add a camera to Burrel App

This article will provide instructions on how to add a Burrel or a camera of another brand to Burrel App and how to get photos in the app.


Requirements for using the Burrel App

To use the Burrel App, there are a few things you need. The requirements are:

  • The trail camera sends photos to email

You can use the Burrel App with any camera that just sends a photo to email.

  • You have downloaded the Burrel App and created a user account.

You can find the Burrel App in the app stores Google Play and Apple Store by searching for "Burrel". Download the app toyour phone or tablet. At a later stage, a browser version of the application will also be released, allowing the application to be used on a computer. Installation instructions and version information for the Burrel App can be found here. For now, everyone can use the full version of Burrel app for free. More information about the different subscriptions can be found here. 


To get photos in the Burrel App, the camera must also be connected to network. Once the camera is connected to the network, the camera's screen will display the operator, network and network strength. In case of possible error, you can find further instructions here. 


In addition, the camera must be set up correctly so that the camera sends photos to the application. You will find more information about this later in this article. 


Add a camera to the app

There are three diverse ways to add a camera in Burrel App. It depends on the camera model and the default server the camera is using how this is done. These ways are:

  1. Burrel ID.
  2. Device ID created by the Burrel App.
  3. As a camera of another brand.


1. Burrel ID


SMS PRO (manufactured after Sep 2021), S22WA, N24 and E24. 


These cameras are added to Burrel App with Burrel ID. The Burrel ID is created during the manufacturing phase. You can learn more about the Burrel ID here. These cameras with Burrel ID are best controlled remotely in the app. 

  1. How to add a camera to the Burrel App
  2. Download the app from Google Play or App Store. Find more information here. 
  3. Create a user account in the Burrel app. 
  4. Log in to the Burrel account to which you want to add the camera, press the "Add camera" button. This can be found in the app under the Cameras submenu.
  5. Add the camera to the Burrel app using the QR code or enter the camera's Burrel ID in the "Add Device ID" field displayed in the app.
  6. Follow the instructions in the app to continue. 


Note! Burrel ID is encoded in the QR code which you can alternatively use, if possible, in adding the camera to Burrel App. The QR code can only be found in the latest cameras, either on the cover of the Quick Installation guide or on a sticker attached to the camera. 


How to get a photo in the Burrel App

In order for the camera to send a photo to the Burrel app, the camera must

  • be added to the app with its Burrel ID.
  • Find network connection. You can find further instructions for possible error situations here. 
  • Settings to be correct:

 

SETUP or ON mode depending on camera model -> Menu ->

System submenu ->

Trigger interval: 1 minute on 4G, 3 minutes on 2G

 

Wireless submenu ->

SendMode: Instant

SendVia: Internet 

SendTo: Burrel+

And finally, select

"UpLoad settings" so that the settings are saved on the server.

2. With Device ID


SMS PRO (manufactured before Sep 2021), Edge HD 4G, Edge HD 3G and newer SMS3. 


These cameras are added to Burrel App with Device ID created by the Burrel App. You can find more information about the Device ID here.

Device ID not found in camera email

If the camera has sent photos via email, and there is no link to be found in the email, then the first step is to default camera settings. If there is still no link, the second step is then to check the camera's current firmware and if needed, update your camera. You can find instructions below.

After that, check that the camera settings are as they are here under the heading "How to get a photo in Burrel App", and then try the manual test photo to get the link. You can find instructions for the manual test photo, the most common notices and possible actions here. 

 

Firmware update: 

You can find your camera’s current firmware version in camera settings (SETUP -> Menu -> System submenu -> Information). You can find all the latest firmware versions here. When the camera is updated, retry to get the link to email by taking a manual test picture.


Note! If you have default settings and the camera has the latest firmware, and the link is still not found in the email sent by the camera, then the camera should be added to the app as a camera form another brand. 


How to get a photo in the Burrel App

In order for the camera to send a photo to the Burrel app, the camera must

  • be added to the app with its Burrel ID.
  • Find network connection. You can find further instructions for possible error situations here. 
  • Settings to be correct:

SETUP -> Menu ->

System submenu ->

Trigger interval: 1 minute on 4G, 3 minutes on 2G

 

Wireless submenu ->

SendMode: Instant

SendVia: Internet (Do not touch these SMTP server settings directly from the camera or with a separate setup tool Wireless.exe)

SendTo: Email

Email. Specify the receiving email address to which the camera will send the picture. Email must also be specified here if you want the camera to send photo to the Burrel App.

3. As a camera of another brand


S10 HD SMS, S12 HD SMS, S12 HD SMS2 Control, older SMS3 and cameras of another brand


These are added to Burrel App as a camera of another brand as follows:

  • Download the application from Google Play or App Store. Find more information here. 
  • Create a user account to Burrel App.
  • Log in to the Burrel account where you want to add the camera, press the "Add Camera" button. This can be found in Cameras submenu in Burrel App. 
  • Then, at the bottom of the site, choose "Add a camera of another brand". 
  • Specify the receiving email address in the camera settings displayed on the screen provided by the Burrel app (For Burrel cameras: SETUP -> Menu -> Wireless submenu -> Email). If adding a third party camera to the app, check the camera's manual if necessary to set up the receiving email in the correct location in the camera settings. 
  • Continue to follow the instructions provided by the Burrel app. 
  • Try a manual test photo. Instructions can be found here.  


NOTE! If the camera is added to Burrel App using the wrong method, for example SMS PRO is an added to app as a camera of another brand when it should have been added using either Burrel ID or Device ID, the camera does not send photos to Burrel App! Then the camera must be removed from the Burrel App and be added using the correct method.
